Hi. If you’re not our mothers, there’s genuinely no need to read the rest of this. On the other hand, if you *are* our mothers…
Hey! Guess what! We’re going to be on Radio 4. You know – that radio station you acknowledge! The one that all radios in the family home are automatically tuned to! The one where James Naughtie shouts at people, and The Archers discuss the genuinely inconsequential in fifteen minute bursts (yes, and the Sunday omnibus. ‘Omnibus’. Honestly. God I bloody love Radio 4.)
Festival season is upon us, and one of the first we’ll be visiting is Brighton, with its (usually) lovely weather, (super) fabulously-dressed inhabitants and (always) drunk tourists. We’ll be Upstairs at Three and Ten at 10pm on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th May, with our brand spanking new show ‘Max and Ivan are… Con Artists’ The Independent’s Arts Editor has selected us as one of their 22 for i magazine highlights – so that means [...]
Hello!
We’re writing a show. It’s going to be ideal. Here’s the title:
‘Max and Ivan are… Con Artists’
Good, eh? It’s going to be a narrative-sketch-comedy-heist-thriller, that will teach us the meaning of love and friendship via an hour of abdomen-imploding belly laughs intermingled with some actual genuine sadness.
Previews are happening…
This week’s Roffle Club is Guardian’s Pick of the Week (extra bonus parent points!) Come along – we’ve got an awesome line-up for your delectation and delight: The Beta Males - snappy dressers, sketch genii and genuinely great people. Deeply splendid fun was had at the Leicester Comedy Festival, with a sold-out performance of Holmes and Watson – thanks to all who came and filled the Belmont Hotel with human bodies and laughter! The return to London was a post-apocalyptic hellride through a snowbound wilderness – Ivan’s remarkably accurate driving was all that kept us alive (thankfully he’s recently given up drink-driving, on a bet). The Roffle Club is happening tomorrow – snow be [...]
Holy cocks. The Soho Theatre run of Holmes and Watson – the last time it’ll be performed for a fair old while – was completely sold out. Sensational. It was also the first time Max has performed the show without crutches since breaking his ankle performing at The Wrestling and all that jazz, and it went damn well. He’s still got an ankle, at least. One day, he may run again. Until then, he’s enjoying [...]
Check. It. Out. In a beautiful and auspicious prelude to the EPIC SIX-NIGHT SOHO THEATRE RUN of our show ‘Max and Ivan are Holmes and Watson’, the good people of the Guardian have recommended us in the Guide! Here’s proof, and everything (and don’t worry about losing your sight trying to read it – just click the picture for the article): And we’re in damn good company, sharing a page with Simon Munnery (he’s at the bottom, [...]
How can one best convey the feeling of pure, white-knuckle, terror-flecked excitement? For six wildly-ambitious nights, we’re taking ‘Holmes and Watson’ to the infamous Soho Theatre. It’s a venue which has played host to Tim Key, Tim Minchin, Kim Noble, Rich Hall, The Pajama Men, Adam Riches, Jimmy Carr and now, somehow… us.
