A final word on The Wrestling…

Well.

That was, clearly, one of the single most extraordinary events we’ve ever been a part of. To absolutely all of the performers – comedians and wrestlers alike – as well as the astonishing tech crew who put the entire event together, you have our undying love and thanks.

It’s taken a few days for the dust to settle on this one, and it currently seems deeply surreal that any of it happened at all. My days are currently shot through with flashbacks to Nick Helm’s astonishing entrance to Enter Sandman at the very start of the show, or Abandoman leading his wrestler to the ring whilst rapping through the crowd (like 8 Mile, only better), or Russell Kane using the power of Jesus to revive his team-mates before being battered by a chair. It’s all t0o ridiculous to have happened, except it did, and it was incredible to be a part of.

So. Again, thank you, everyone. You all excelled yourselves beyond my wildest expectations. Now let’s survive the rest of this ludicrous month, so we can get home and catch the last of the rioting.

Oh my god, how are we here again? It’s time to age 30 years in 30 days as we hit the Edinburgh Fringe! We’re going to be posting videos of general fringe living as quickly as we can film them, so do check that out.

Holmes and Watson awarded ‘Best Comedy’ at Buxton Fringe

Good lord! We had a wonderful sunny weekend at the Buxton Fringe a few weeks ago – we performed our Edinburgh show, ‘Max and Ivan Are Holmes and Watson’ to lovely sold-out crowds, and hung out with our phenomenally generous Couch Surfing hostess, Ansty (seriously – we got double beds and a cooked breakfast. A++++, would surf again). Then we came back to angry, smog-filled London and thought nothing more about it.

HOWEVER – the festival has just finished, and it turns out we’ve won their ‘Best Comedy’ award! Magnificent stuff; thank you people of Buxton! It’s a beautifully auspicious boost en route to Edinburgh (which is literally a week away. Good god) – and the best bit is we still haven’t quite finished editing the show. Let’s do this.

On Monday 15th August at the Pleasance Grand, THE WRESTLING is officially going to happen. Tickets have just gone on sale. We are too excited.

World-class wrestlers meet world-class comedians in a late night, heart-pounding, edge-of-your seat spectacular. For one night only the Edinburgh Fringe will be turned upside-down, as punchlines meet clotheslines in an epic and extraordinary battle of Good versus Evil. Rules will be broken. Blood may be spilt. Explosions will definitely happen. Bring signs, bring costumes, bring a complete lack of emotional self-control and join a galaxy of fearsome fighters and dazzling comedy favourites at the Pleasance Grand.
